Alongside our campaign partners, Grenfell United, The Leasehold Knowledge Partnership, The National Leasehold Campaign, Action for Fire Safety Justice and Father of the House, Sir Peter Bottomley, we have sent a letter to the Directors of Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM), Norway’s £1 trillion sovereign wealth / pension fund.
Our joint letter calls on NBIM to leverage its position as a major investor in the firms implicated in the building safety scandal to fully compensate the victims of the Grenfell Tower tragedy, and to pay to ensure thousands of buildings across the United Kingdom are safe. If these firms choose to not do the right thing and continue to ignore leaseholders’ cries for help, we have requested NBIM to sell its large holdings in these companies.

We welcome Michael Gove, the housing secretary, backing our call to action on those firms who built or supplied materials for unsafe flats – we believe that Mr Gove’s move underlines that those firms responsible for the fire safety crisis are truly “on notice”. It is high time for the firms that have played a large part in causing this crisis, by choosing to focus on profit over residents’ safety, are held to account.
Our lives, livelihoods and mental health remain under constant threat and we must see those truly responsible pay and all leaseholders finally protected from obscene remediation costs we played no part in causing. We will continue to work with Mr Gove to ensure he delivers a comprehensive and fair solution that means we have certainty, a safe and secure home, and that we can finally move on with our lives.
