Our written evidence to the Commons LUHC committee inquiry into shared ownership

In July 2023 the Commons Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Committee initiated an inquiry into shared ownership to examine the challenges associated with the scheme, including barriers to achieving full home ownership and whether shared ownership is genuinely an affordable route to owning a home.

We know that many shared owners are severely impacted by the building safety crisis, so we used the information compiled in our ‘Dereliction of Duty’ report as well as further evidence gathered as part of our casework to prepare written evidence which we submitted to the Committee. You can read our written evidence here.

Dozens of shared owners, academics and several organisations also submitted written evidence to the inquiry. The Committee is expected to publish its report in 2024.
